Anyone know how to change my computer's boot sequence so that my CD-ROM drive
is the first drive my computer looks for when starting up? I need to run a
RAM diagnostic from a CD.

The procedure is different for different motherboards.
Typically early in the boot process a message comes up, something like:
"Press F1 to enter set-up", other common keys are F2, Delete and others.
You need to press quickly while the message is on the screen.
Once in, usually there is a "Boot" tab, from there you can change the boot
sequence.

Check your motherboard/computer manual or contact the manufacturer for
details.

I tried that, but for some reason, my VAIO doesn't give me any indication as
to how i do it. I've tried [tab] and [f1]. no luck.

thanks for the help.

well, how about the other keys he mentioned - like F2 or Delete?

When you turn on puter, watch for some writings at top of screen and at the
bottom you should see "del.....blah blah blah"...as soon as you see THE "DEL"
, hit the "del" key and IT should take you to bios screen. First option
should be the one, Hit enter key on keyboard, use arrows (up & down) to go to
"boot sequence" and use the "+ & - " keys to change from "floppy" to "CD",
then hit "esc." key. and "exit and save to cmos" ...IT should restart with
CD as first boot.

Jesse;
That may describe your BIO, but it does not describe mine and many others.
Each manufacture determines how the BIOS is entered and navigated fro the
motherboard.
