I have bought my friens a second hand computer which has XP proffesional as its OS.

However it now does not boot giving the error message

\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

I have tried booting form the supplied disc but i am not that confident that it is a genuine windows disc as it makes no difference.

Any idea please as to what can be done.

Thanks
