Boot problem

I have a Client's computer which wont boot up. In Safe Mode it will go
through the list of files and, after a short delay, re-boot. I've seen this
behaviour before but can't recall what caused it. My guess is it is a
virus, spyware or a corrupted hard disk. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Can you boot in Safe Mode Command Prompt? And stay up.

The option to auto re-boot on error is set. But you can't reset it unless
you can somehow get into the system.
Can you use Recovery mode on the Windows XP CD?

The Msgina.dll might be corrupt/broken/compromised or a different GINA
may have been introduced in the WinLogon key. See here:

The "Welcome to Windows" Logon Screen Does Not Appear When You Start the
Computer

If that is not the problem you could bootlog the startup and see if
anything useful shows up in the log.
