Windows Xp home will go through the post test and boots to the splash screen.
It never get's to the logon screen. Ot just hangs there. I have tried a boot
disk with the same results. This is on a dell inspartion 4300. I got the PC
second hand so I donot have the disk. Is there anything I can to short of
buying a new copy of windows Xp. Any Ideas?

Thanks

So what you're saying is you have NO XP disks from Dell to do a
"repair/recovery" install??
so you are SOL............unless you go and buy a Retail Copy of XP

Go lean on whoever sold you the computer if he sold you a
completely functioning machine. If it was "as is" though, you're
SOL.

I have found Windows XP Pro on eBay (yes, legal copies) for
under $60. Good to have, PERIOD.

Go on eBay, type in "Windows XP Pro", and then look through
the listings for the "Buy It Now" option.

You don't have to bid if you don't want to.

Good luck!
