My daughter's computer was working fine Yesterday, now it's not.
The problem is when she switched it on the next day, nothing happened,
nothing on the monitor, no boot up sound from HDD (only from the CD ROM drv)
checked all connections for monitor etc; still nothing. Inserted WIN XP CD
switched on comp: still nothing. Tried every thing I could think of but to
no avail, dreading it being the HDD. Please help someone Many thanks Paddy.

Sounds like the power supply failed.

See if any of your fans turn on.

Ta! Shaun & Dave P, for response. Power is getting to computer, power light
comes on and ALL fans are turning and working fine (no stalling or going slow
etc;)
Could it be the HDD? If I press reset botton the greem light comes on but
still doesn't boot PLUS the CD-ROM won't eject or (front ) power switch won't
work, I have to switch it off from the PSU switch at back or the mains. I
read the manual (trouble shooting section) that came with comp: and it says
to make sure memory modules are seated and have not dislodged and grapic
cards (witch is build into motherboard) push into expansion slots. All this
I've tried with no result. What I'd give to be a wizard expert on computers.

If you don't see the POST (power on self test) scroll the screen or hear the
beep then try another monitor. If it really doesn't post then the mobo might
have failed or part of the PS may have failed.

Thanks again Dave for your help and quick response. Good news I manage to get
intuoch with NOVATECH and luckily the comp: was still within it's warranty
sowas able to get it fixed. It turned out to be the motherboard. So again
thanks for your help.
