I have XP Pro installed on "C". I have 3 other partitions and I installed XP Pro on partition 4 just for experimental reasons. When I was finished playing, I went into computer management and deleted partition 4 which is now unallocated space. When I had the 2 XP versions installed, my boot.ini looked like this: [boot loader
timeout=3
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\WINDOW
[operating systems

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetec

After I deleted XP on partition 4 my boot.ini looks like this:[boot loader
timeout=3

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetec

The problem is when I boot, I get 2 windows (default)s listed. It defaults to the second one, which is no longer. It has been deleted. The current boot.ini looks as it should, but for some reason it lists the 2 windows to boot from, and defaults to the deleted version. How can I fix this

Try this:

Start | Run | Type: msconfig | OK | Boot.ini tab |
Check All Boot Paths button

Hmm, everytime I try that, I get a error message saying system utility has encountered problems...send a report to Microsoft etc.
