Boot.ini Question

Below is my boot.ini. I do not understsnd why there is a "noexecute=optin"
near the end of the last line. The typical boot.ini does not have it. I do
have two (2) partitions. The first is that partition Dell puts on the front
of all their drives. Could it be causing my drive to boot and then shut down
in 1-5 minutes? Even if that is not the case do i need it? Could I
eliminate it?

Thanks, oldmountainman

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating system)
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS=“Microsoft Windows XP
Professional†/noexecute=optin /fastdetect

Hi, Sorry for the delay in getting back. I was waiting for emails to let me
know if there were any responses. Never got any. Finally decided to check,
anyway. Many thanks to both philo and Wesley Vogel. Your responses provided
the info I needed. Also, they jogged my memory regarding electing to enable
DEP a year or so ago.
