I have an IBM think pad PIII 700MHz which is coming up with an error on boot
up "ERROR 0715: Bad CRC1, stop POST task." It then gives me the option to
press <F1> for the Bios or <F12> for a tempory boot device. Neither of
which options work. The same thing happens if you try to use these options
straight away when the IBM screen appears before entering the boot routine.

If any one could help me sort this out plese let me know?

thanks

Paul

The BIOS is attempting to run Power On Self Test and
failing. The message could either indicate a memory failure
or the disk drive (Due to the Temporary boot device option).

This indicates a serious hardware problem. A CRC is a
Cyclic Redundancy Check. It functions like a verification
routine before the computer actually starts to boot an OS.

Best advice - Contact IBM or research the specific error
message on their support boards for ThinkPads.
