boot failure, HELP

Can anyone recommend a course of action to the following
issue:

system never gets passed "Loading your personal settings"
during boot up, but will boot in safe mode.

any info/help is greatly appreciated

When you say "never gets passed", how long are you giving it? Is this a
server? Is there anything in event viewer? Could be any number of issues,
such as DNS problem. More info is needed.

Check Event Viewer and Device Manager for errors and or non-starting
devices.

steve, thanks for the reply. it is not a server and it
appears to be in some kind of unending loop as it tries to
load the personal settings. where as it normally would
take only a minute or two to go from login to completion
of boot, it now just goes from login to the
neverending "loading your personal settings" screen. In
the event viewer, the error shows as Source - DCOM, Event
10003 and is described in the event properties as:

Access denied attempting to launch a DCOM server using
DefaultLaunchPermission. The server is:
{00020906-0000-C000-000000000046}
The user is Unavailable/Unavailable, SID=Unavailable

Let me know if you need any more info, and thanks again
