Boot Disk Issue and Question

Z

Zednanref

Have XP Home Edition.
Suddenly, Windows cannot start.
Tried Safe Mode, etc. to no avail.
Ran Boot Disks & Chose Option for Recovery Console.
Menu does not come up, only displays description of
Recovery Console and Type EXIT verbiage. As mentioned,
menu does not appear.
Tried running CHKDDSK, cannot locate AUTOCHK.EXE.

Can't submit to MS Support as they require Product ID.
Cannot get into system to obtain ID. Software was bundled
with purchase (HP).

Any suggestions?
If I run SETUP instead of Recovery Console, will I lose my
data?

Please advise ASAP.
