I´ve bought a new computer recently but i´m having problems installing
windows Xp.

In the store I bought the computer i didn´t asked to install the windows
because i had already bought a windows xp cd some time ago.

But when the computer starts it shows a message like this: "Boot disk
failure, insert system disk and press enter"

I´ve already changed in the BIOS the 1st boot device as the cd-rom(I have a
dvd-rom) to start from the CD but it hasn´t helped much.

What can I do then?

You may have a defective CD ROM, BIOS or WinXP CD. You
can test it like so:

1. Make a Win98 boot disk (www.bootdisk.com).
2. Set your BIOS to boot from the floppy disk drive.
3. Boot with this boot disk.
4. Try to access your WinXP CD, using different CDs.

If you can read all CDs then your WinXP CD is probably
flawed. Perhaps it's an inferior clone.
