Boot CD woes....

Al

Hi Folks,

I have a drive imaging and restore program (powerquest drive image 7).
It comes with a bootable CD for restoring...now I know that this CD
works on my computer, but when I try to boot my friends computer with
this CD it fails to detect the boot CD and tries to boot from the HDD.

This same computer will boot from the XP CD, so I know that it is
capable of booting from a CD.

Someone suggested trying a different media (ie type of CD) and I have
checked the bios boot preferences...anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks,

-Al

Try installing DI 7.0 on his computer, then create the bootable
recovery CD. The DI 7.0 bootable recovery CD may be specific for the
machine it's installed on.

It turned out to be a combination of a cheap CD drive and a very
scratched CD.

I burnt the CD to a new media and that fixed it. (Though the scratched
CD was able to be read by various other better quality CD drives...)
