BOOT cd rom

Im haveing problems, I had a pc built with no operating system and i
trying to install windows xp but the cdrom isnt being recognized.
Ive downloaded 6 disk program and tried that but still the cd ro
will not install windows xp. plz help.......

Hi binkster.

Have you tried going into the BIOS to see if it is recognized there? Hit
either F2, Del, Esc or maybe F10 depending on what is suitable for your PC,
right after rebooting, or when getting the message on the screen which key
to press. Then, hopefully, it will take you to the BIOS setup. What does it
say there? Maybe you need to set it to "Auto" if there is such setting,
otherwise if that doesn't help try then to see on its jumper-settings. There
should be some info. on its back if you turn it up-side-down.

Hi,

First, make sure the drive is properly recognized in the system BIOS. If it
is, then on the boot devices make it the first and only one - disable floppy
and hard drives from being the boot device so that the system has no choice.
Also make sure that any BIOS antivirus schema is disabled, or it may
interfere with setup writing to the boot sector on the hard drive.

Then you are not connecting it properly. Or, the cd drive is toast.

Ive downloaded 6 disk program and tried that but still the cd rom
will not install windows xp. plz help........

Wont help if your cd is not seen.
