Boost system volume

B

Ben Wylie

When playing quiet audio, having system volume on max isn't good enough, and
i was wondering if there is some piece of software to boost the system
beyond standard max?
I use wirless headphones, and remote amplification causes a nasty hiss, so
the higher the output i can get from the computer, the nicer the sound i get
from the headphones.

Thanks
Ben

Ben, right click on your volume button in the system tray and "Open Volume
Controls". Then check your "Wave" volume level. If this is low, you can
crank it up and get more volume overall. I had this same problem before
and this solved it. Let me know if this is the problem.

'fraid that's not the problem. I have it all on max. What i'm trying to
listen to, has a very quiet soundtrack, and so even on maximum volume it is
still quiet, so i'm looking for something to boost the volume.

Cheers,
Ben

Winamp has a volume boost slider on the Equalizer window. If this isn't
enough then I think you need a better sound card or better headphones.

Shoot. It sounded like the same problem I had. Good luck finding a
solution!

If you have both the wave/mp3 control and any "master" control at max
the only ways I know of are to...

1. Modify the volume of the file with MP3Gain or other app

2. Use a plug in (if you are using Winamp or compatible) with a
compressor such as CompWide to bump low volume, decrease high.
