Boom sound when I access web pages

I'm running IE6 on Windows ME. Whenever I access a web page I get one or
several loud booms and the page comes up but with the " Action Cancelled"
message at random places on the page. I can still access pages but not without
these annoying faults. Any suggestions.

Hi boh21 :)

Not sure about the sound part, you might try the following and see if it
helps:

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Sounds and Multimedia>Sounds tab
Scroll down to Complete Navigation and see if there is a sound (looks like a
horn) next to that. If so, click on it, then open the box below that says
Name, and then scroll to the top of the list there and click (None).
Click Apply
Click OK

See if that stops the sound

As for the Action Cancelled...try the following and see if it helps:

1. Do a search on your C: drive for a file: HOSTS
( Normaly found somewhere here: C:\WINDOWS\, the one that does not have any
any extension)

2. Delete or rename the file to something like HOSTS.OLD or something you
prefer.

3. Go back to your problem page and reload it to see it that resolves the
problem.

Hope this helps

Do you have a pop-up blocker installed by any chance? If so,
is the pop-up blocker programmed to make a noise when it
blocks a pop-up? (Mine is and it sounds like small
explosion.)
