bookmarking and hyperlinking throughout a document

I am working on a proposal wherein a proposal number is provided and is
included on the first 2 pages of a 25 page document. It is also included in
the header of pages 3-24. How can I link this information where it is copied
to all other locations throughout the document after inserting it on the 1st
page. I also need to insert the date (current at the time a new proposal is
generated as well as revision numbers.

I am not how to go about accomplishing this task. Can anyone out there help
me?
