bold that cannot be deleted

I have creates a memo template which starts each line (top part before the
body of the text) with To, Name, etc., and then tabs over for completion of
data on each line. The To, Name, etc. part is intende to be bold whereas the
rest of each of these lines is not intended to be bold.

Deleting the bold for the balance of these lines works as a manual "fix" for
a document being created, but when you save the blank template so the issue
is not permanent, no go. In other words, after attempting to delete the bold
for the balance of these lines in the template and then saving, the bold
always bounces back in the saved template.

Suggestions?

Include the tabs in the template and format them as Not Bold. Also, make
sure that the paragraph mark is formatted as Not Bold.

I'm not an MS Word expert, but here are a few suggestions that come to mind:

1. Are these bold fields set up to follow a style? If so, make these fields
a different style which is not bolded (either choose one, or create a new
one).

2. Is the document protected? If so, perhaps that may prevent you from
changing things. Unprotect the document and see if that makes a difference.

I hope this helps.

Dear Suzanne,

I have tried selecting the paragraph mark and then deleting the bold - it
always bounces back as bold.

As for the tabs, when you go in the tabs menu there is no place to mark them
as not bold. Also, I have never used Styles and am not sure if I am using
one and what to look for.

When I said "tabs," I meant the tab characters, not the tab stops. You've
got introductory text (bold) followed by more text (not bold) separated by a
tab character, right? So include the tab character in the template,
formatted as not bold; when users start typing after the tab, the text will
not be bold.

The problem with this approach is that users will very likely not have
nonprinting characters displayed, so they will not see the tabs and will end
up typing in front of them. To prevent that, add MacroButton NoMacro fields
where they're supposed to type. The field will display something like
"[Click here to type name]" (see Word's built-in memo and fax templates for
examples). For instructions on constructing such fields (it's really easy!),
