Bold/Character Styles

How do I define a style so that only part of a sentence is bold? For example,
I want to define a style for a caption so that Figure X is bold and the rest
of the caption is not.

Thanks!

There's a built-in character style named "Strong" that does this. Select the
text you want to make bold, and apply the Strong style.

Of course, you can define as many styles as you like, with the same
formatting if that's what you want. In the Formatting and Styles task pane,
click New Style. In the dialog, set the "style type" dropdown to
"Character", assign a name and the desired formatting, and click OK.
