Bold and Italic versions of font not available in menu or styles!

I installed a professional OpenType font family package (from Adobe) which
included bold and italic versions of the regular font. But these bold and
italic fonts do not show up in my font menu, and I am unable to use a Word
template that uses those fonts in several styles.

When I use the "B" or "I" buttons in the formatting palette, it apparently
just gives me faux bold and faux italic of the regular font (Myriad Pro).

This seems like a major programming flaw that arose from someone trying to
simplify font menus.

Has anyone else encountered this problem and/or does anyone have any
suggestions? I could not find any reference to it on any
Microsoft/Word/Office support resources online or elsewhere. Seems like a
pretty major issue and a glaring ommission for those seeking help.

Any feedback on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Word is designed to use the Bold, Italic, and Bold Italic variants of fonts
(if available) when you use bold and italic formatting. The variants are
never shown in the font list.
