Bobby Jones
Bobby Jones was born March 17, 1902 in Atlanata Georgia. he was the
greatest golfers to compete on a national and interatriral level. Jones won
his first childern's tournoment at the age of six and made the third round
of the U.S. Amatevr Championship at 14. Jones was trained and coached in
Scottland. Then he won the Southern Amatevr three time in 1917, 1920, and
1922. He was also the one player to win The Double, both the Gramd Slam in
the year of 1930. Jones was married in 1924 to the former Mary Rice Mlone.
They have three kids named Clara, Robert Tyre the III, and Mary Ellen. Then
in 1930 the same year he retired from golf at the age 28. Then he was
honored with the first James E. Sullivan Award. Then Jones was in fact, turn
professional at golf after he retired competing. After awhile Jones played
in the Master Tournament that held until 1948 when he was 46 years old. By
then his health had declined to the stage where this was no longer possible
for Jones to play. In 1948, Jones was dignoses with Syringomyela a
fluid-filled cavity in his spinalcord. Jones was then put on a wheelchair.
Jones died in Atlantia Gerogia on December 18, 1971 about a week after
becoming cathlic. Bobby Jones was buried in Atlanta historic Oakland Cemtery
.. Then Bobby Jones was included into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974.
