Blurry bold text

I have win2k professional on a compaq laptop, but was looking through information on Microsoft ClearType for XP on the Web. When I finished, I noticed that all of my bold text (in word, excel, IE, etc.) was blurry as if somehow a bad version of ClearType was now installed on my machine. All non-bold type looks the same as before, and I know that ClearType doesn't work on windows 2000 - but is there some program or adjustment that I as missing? I've changed the resolution and other display settings, but the problem persists. Any ideas?

I think we chalk this one up to the "now you know so now you notice"
phenomena . Yes BOLD is "blurry". :)
