bluetooth vs usb problem

been unsuccesful in installing a bluetooth transceiver to
a usb port. i'm using windows xp pro.

device manager does pick up the transceiver on connection,
but places yellow question marks next to the bluetooth
entries.

i believe the software isn't corrupt as i have tried it
from a couple of different sources with the same result.
the drivers i have used appear the latest and greatest and
seem to install okay. a couple of times though, windows
asks for the same missing files.

i have also downloaded the latest drivers for the usb
ports. i use the usb with a puk cable, no problems.

for some unknown reason, the bluetooth transceiver does
not like being connected to the usb port.

or windows doesn't like it.

also, once connected, the bluetooth transceiver does not
create a "human interface device" entry in device manager
as i believe it should.

but it does create a "network adaptor" entry (and no
yellow question marks here).

can someone help???

Have you tried connecting the transceiver to a USB port without a hub or
other cables in between?
