Bluetooth question

I have a USB bluetooth adaptor, works fine, but how can I disable BT after
using it?

So I don't want to uninstall it, but just go "off line" after using it.
Can't find this option...

Start-> Connect to On my XP shows all the connection methods. BT
Ethernet Wireless and Firewire. I can right click and disable or enable.
It does not uninstall. I do it to the wireless a lot.

Here I don't see "Connect to".
So then I suppose you mean Start - Settings - Connections (translated)
At least there I can see all my connections: LAN, Firewire, and Bluetooth.
On that BT icon I do seem to have an option to disable... OK, so I'll use
that.

I was confused by the BT icon in the Windows task bar tray. It seems to
provide all sorts of options, but no "disable" or equivalent...

Same thing. I have Windows Media Center and I use that default view,
not classic and I've modified the menu a bit, whatever I can via normal
channels, not registry hacks. So I may have a slightly different view.
But I think you got the right idea I've never disabled my bluetooth
cause my mouse is on it. And that would kill me!! LOL.

A USB Bluetooth adapter will not show up in the "Safely Remove
Hardware" icon for disconnecting USB devices. The two method of
disabling are:

1) Access the Device Manager and select each Bluetooth "Radio"
devices. Right click on each and select "disable."

2) Pull the Bluetooth adapter out from the USB port. (I would first
add a USB "extension cable" in between the Bluetooth adapter and USB
port. USB ports can "wear out" with all the disconnecting /
reconnecting of USB devices and the extension cable is a lot cheaper
to replace than the PC's USB ports.)

I wouldn't do that in your case! I'm using BT myself for connecting my
pocket PC with ActiveSync. As I'm new to Windows XP I'll have to find my way
around again. Comming from Windows 2000, but now installing Windows XP from
scratch. Process is slow but steady. Not in a hurry but going for quality.
And making images at regular intervals. I did NOT install the CD that came
with the BT device.
Same for LAN and WIFI. Network (WPA) is up and running fine without having
installed the router CD...

OK, I'll be going for option 1.
