Bluetooth com port

Pelle

Using Windows XP SP1

I have purchased the Microsoft keyboard and mouse that is
using Bluetooth.
It works well but I have some problems using the
Bluetooth receiver for other devices.

What I am trying to do it to synchronize my Outlook with
my SonyEricsson T610 phone using Bluetooth.
The synchronization application that I am trying to use
is XTNDConnect PC.

According to error message received I am supposed to
ensure that there is a proper comport in the "Phone
Monitor Options" (in control panel).
No virtual port available for Bluetooth to select so I go
back to the "Wireless Link" settings to rediscover the
phone. Works fine but the only service available is Dial-
Up Networking, DUN. According to the phone there should
be many other services provided.

This leads me to believe that XP does not support other
services.
Is that a correct assumption?
If so; How can I add the other services? Especially the
synchronization and virtual com.

Thanks!

Hi Pelle

Your final assumption is correct. Networking services are currently
unavailable with MS bluetooth drivers.

An update for the drivers has been expected for sometime now... and I have
seen some reports that Service Pack 2 - due out later this year - includes
an overhaul of the Bluetooth drivers... but I can't confirm this.

Apart from buying a different Bluetooth adaptor... wait and see is the only
thing to do.

Sorry I don't have better news.

You should have a bluetooth configuration "manager" in your control panel (I
did with both my DBT and Belkin Bluetooth devices) which allows you to
create virtual bluetooth ports once you have those - there should be no
problem

Pelle,
Pete is correct in saying the current setup will not
allow more functionality.
However there may be ways around this.
Do reply if you are still interested in trying to get
more out of your Bleutooth.

Don't be so coy, Sitaraman.

If you have a valid suggestion for the OP, post it openly and allow other
posters to add their opinions.. that's how peer scrutiny works.

Right then.
The original set up as given by MS with the Wireless Optical Deskstop for
Bluetooth is crap.
Only 3 profiles are included where as it is claimed that you can connect
upto 7 devices...it is never specified that all 7 devices must use one of
the 3 profiles.
General consensus is that the hardware itself is good IF you can keep it
connected for more than a day at a time.
You got doubts? Check the MS Hardware Products group under MS Hardware under
Other Newsgroups...more people post there (as are supposed to) about
hardware made by MS.

It's not being coy.
It's only that I don't want to start lambasting MS for their limited
software design which must they have done with something specific in mind.
And my asking Pelle to reply was to check if he is still looking at the
newsgroups for more info or has he given up.
My suggestion?
Use other software to connect the same hardware and see for yourself how
good things can get.
Post it openly?
Here goes. Go to www.jonscaife.com and try for yourself.
Note: It's not my site.I'm only a contributor in a small way.
Other people's opinions?
Waiting .......

Martin....it doesn't work that way with the MS setup
You only get a Wireless Link icon (no Bluetooth neighbourhood or Bluetooth
Configuration Manager) in the control panel- which Pelle already has.
And in the Wireless Link you get only the exact functionality as designed
originally with 3 profiles...nothing more.
No com ports + no syncronization + no headset + no audio gateway + no file
transfer.
So Pelle is right when he says that he cannot use this setup for
Synchronization.
