Bluescreen shutdowns on fresh PC build--how to research solution i

I'm getting unexpected shutdowns left and right on a fresh PC build. The
"solution" info is:

My PC is shutting down often and giving me the following "solution":

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033

Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: d1
BCP1: 00000008
BCP2: 00000002

Does anyone have *any* idea what I can do with this?

Check for loose connections or intermittent shorts.

Hi,

Is it the same message/error codes every time? If so, then whatever is
causing it is consistent, and this may make it easier to detect. Have you
checked the event viewer for any mention of a loaded module at the time of
the shutdown? Have you tried selectively disabling software the loads at
boot and runs in the background?

It is the same error every time.

Hmm...in the Event Viewer there are errors for both my PCI cards (X-Fi
Extreme Music and 8800GT Graphics card):

"IRQARB: ACPI BIOS does not contain an IRQ for the device in PCI slot 7,
function 0. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance."

"IRQARB: ACPI BIOS does not contain an IRQ for the device in PCI slot 2,
function 0. Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance."

....and then some Windows Staging servicing errors. Nothing else looks
particularly exciting/relevant.

How do I check for a "loaded module" or shut down particular services on
startup?

Hi,

As to those messages, are there devices in those slots? If so, you may need
a BIOS update to make the system compatible with Vista. Does the timing of
the events coincide with the crashes?

Find an event whose timing coincides with the crash, look at the details to
see if there is a line listing the loaded module at the time of the crash.

To selectively shut down software loading at boot, use the system
configuration utility (type msconfig into the start/search line and hit
<enter>). You'll find a selectable list on the startup tab.

scared of bluescreen

I am getting this same message today and I have not done anything new to my
PC - anyone have any idea what to do? I read through your responses but I am
not very computer literate so I do not understand what you guys are talking
about.

In order to help, we need information on what is happening. System
specifics, error message details, etc. We cannot see your machine or what it
is doing and are reliant on you to give us the information we need to help
you. Start a new thread, don't jump into an existing one, and be specific
about what's going on. How long, what was recently installed or updated, and
so on...
