Blue warning screen comes up on one application, that DID work

Box with XP Home was going OK, THEN I let the Symantec site update all
my Systemworks 2003 files. BAD BAD move

After that I couldn't get the machine to shut down, other than by
turning off the power. Naturally I tried system restore but as usual it
went thru the motions then reported it couldn't change anything.

So, followed the Nortons site instructions for removing Systemworks, but
then suffered very slow booting, and could only get 640x480 res on the
monitor.

Tried reinstalling drivers etc for the monitor but no go. In
desperation I booted from the XP install disk and tried to get it to fix
itself - took ages with this blue warnng screen appearing regularly -
had to reboot and retry the fix,

Eventually the 'upgrade'/fix finished and after reinstalling the video
card drivers things worked - EXcept for one application which I really
need, a programming app for PICAXES, Every time I try and run it it
starts up, then screen goes to black, then the blue screen with the
warning that something wrong and windows has shut down to avoid damaging
the computer.

Of course I tried unistalling it, and reinstalling - uninstalling its
drivers, and reinstalling those, but each time it fires up then goes to
that blue screen. Note that before the Nortons 'update' this
application worked fine, never crashed etc.

Other apps seem to work OK - eg Pinnacle 9, Nero, WMM, Realflight G2
etc. - but not the one I need

So, any ideas - please?

If I have to do a full reinstall of XP is there any way I can avoid
having to (again) reload all my apps - and most importantly not lose all
my photos and videos?

All ideas, (including a trip to the tip) will be welcomed, and
appreciated

Very strong possibility that there is a Registry line for that program that has gone bad.

The 1st thing that I would do since I am not familiar with that program and the lines that are installed in the registry from it is to call the programs Technical Support Department and speak to them. They will be able to point you to the right place to correct this in the registry.

Uninstalling and installing of course will not help since the uninstaller will not recognize the line that has changed in the reg. It remains on your system and will continue to cause this issue that you are presently encountering
