I just plugged my repaired UPS back on to power the computer, which was
already charged properly. Then I left the computer on for 2 mintues or so and
did something, then when I got back, I got one of the blue screen of death.
It said the file that caused this problem was atidvac (I'm sure about the ati
part, but not the last few letters.)

Afterwards, it was doing a complete memory dump. No error reports were
placed in the Event Viewer. Why did this happen? Please help and thanks in
advance.

Hi

Could you please post the Stop Code from the BSOD?

Sorry I didn't copy it, I'll try next time this occurs again. And is it okay
for now to leave it so? Coz my computer is working fine for now.

Hi

If your PC is working OK now, yes, leave things as they are. I'm surprised
there is nothing in the Event Viewer. If you still have the dump file, and
it is a small one (64k), could you please email it to me - not to the News
group - and I'll have a look at it. The Stop Code should be in there.

That I do not know how to do. Please explain.

And btw, in the Write debugging information, it's set to complete memory dump.

Don't do that. It's too big and noone will want the file from you. Do a Minidump (Small Memory Dump).

Oh - that means that the dump file will be the same size as the amount of
RAM you have on your system - which will be too big to email. Search your
system in Windows Explorer for

*.dmp

You'll then be able to see how big the file is.

I have two in the Windows Folder. One is called MEMORY.DMP and is 511 MB big.
Another is Mini052906-01.dmp and it is 64 kb big. They were both modified
today but the smaller file is about a minute later than the larger one.

Hi

You can send me the 64k file and I'll have a look at that.

Hi

It's got a Stop Code of 0x100000EA.

Try the following link to Jim Eshelman's web page - right hand column (EA)

Have you downloaded/installed the latest XP compliant drivers for your video
card?

Well, the ATI website is now promoting the 6.5 version. Which leads me to
another question by the way, in the driver downloads section, there is the
high speed parts and low speed. Before i downloaded 6.2 the high speeds. Then
afterwards, I wasn't using Catalyst Control Center, so when 6.3 came out, I
downloaded the Low-speed Display Driver only and that's it. This couldn't be
a problem could it. It seems that it was only on this time did I experienced
the blue screen error back in February.

Just to make things clear:

The "low speed" downloads at the ATI site are stripped down versions
for users who have low speed (as in dial-up using a telephone modem)
Internet connections because downloading the full set could take
forever plus a week with a dial-up connection.

If you have cable/dsl connection you should get the full (= high
speed) download and use that.

Your original error message points at an ATI file as being the primary
cause of the errors.

Good luck
