I have a stand alone laptop with WIN 2000 installed. I have started to
experience BSODs the most recent two are shown below.

0x000000d1 (0x00000000, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
0x0000000a (0x00000062, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x8042f85e)

Can any body shed any light on what may be causing this?

I use Norton and the only application running was Outlook Express. There is
a Broadband USB modem attached.
If any more info would help please let me know.
Can anyone help?

Thanks
Martin

One possible source of these blue screens is the RAM. Make
it is working properly and that it is seated firmly in its connector.

This is assuming that you can get to it to check it out. If it has more
than one RAM module, you might try removing one and testing.

Does this happen while doing something in particular? At any specific
time? Will it happen if you boot the notebook and just leave it there
without it doing anything?

Did the problem start when you connected the USB modem, or
did it start a reasonable time after?

Did the problem start after you visited a specific site?

The obvious... are you virus and spyware free?

These questions are just to give you an idea in trying to isolate the
problem, you don't have to answer them here :-)

Good luck!

Do you have Norton checking your email for viruses? If so, disable it and it
may clear up the problem. Email checking offers no added protection and can
cause problems.
