Blue Screen of Death, Wait For Me!!

Yes we all know how to make the BSOD pause instead of rebooting the PC
in a nano second, but only if the PC will still start and let you in
to the System tab . How can we read the BSOD if its too late and the
PC will not start?
Apparently the event is written to the system log. If I plug the PCs
hard disk slaved into a working PC can I find this log and read the
contents of the BSOD error?

Reboot. Hit F8. Do the obvious.

Your first post has two viable answers. Have you tried either of them?

Do as Alias posted and if that does not work then get a hold of a Free Linux Distro
like Ubuntu or Mint and boot your Windows with it and then see the Bcc Error Code
and let us know.

Every option following F8 only takes me to the BSOD and reboot. If the
BCC Code is the one at the blue screen then I cannot pause it.
I can start the PC with Ubuntu but still do not know where to find the
log created by the BSOD? Is it in System32\config?

Actually, the location would be here:

C:\WINDOWS\Minidump

But that's only if you had already set up Windows to record memory
dumps. More info:

Have you considered using a camera to capture the screen? That would
give you your info.

I take it that your XP is at either SP1 or Gold level if you do not see
the option that says ""Disable automatic restart on system failure." If
you are at SP3 or SP3 and do not see that option, I think malware is
responsible for that.

It seems like you need to determine if you have a hardware problem or
not:

Also:

If hardware checks out...

Copy all your data.

Then, you could always try what is recommended here next:

http://tech.icrontic.com:80/articles/repair_windows_xp/

Or here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545

If not, Repair Install.

If still no joy, Clean Install.
