Blue Screen Blues!

Fran

Help! I am getting a Blue Screen error "at12dvag.d77
page_fault_in_nonpaged_area" etc. It goes on to say "disable B105 memory
options such as caching or shadowing". Using XP Home.

What do I know about these things...Nothing! All help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Fran

Hi Fran.

I suspect that the reference in your error message is actually to
ati2dvag.dll, which is part of the drivers for the ATI video card in
your computer.

Go to www.ati.com and download and install their latest drivers for
you specific model of video card and install them. That should
resolve the error.

Good luck

Thanks, Ron, but how do I determine which specific model of video card I
have. I know how to open Device Manager, but cannot find video card. Also,
can I simply update drivers from Device Manager? Apologies for my lack of
knowledge.
Much appreciated, Fran

hi,
to find which card ur using, chek ur invoice papers u recieved along
with ur system.
or open up the computer and see if there are any indications on the
card to which the monitor is connected.
and also try device manager - > display adapters (clik on the plus
sign, u might find the description).
and also chek out if u are able to go to safe mode.
restart the computer, before you could see windows xp, press F8 3 or 5
times and you will find an option list. try booting in safe mode and
work and chek if you get blue screen errors.
please also mention exactly when you get this blue screen.
is it when you open a particular application (softwares installed) or
is it everytime you restart your system.

plz give info as to how the page would look like.
it would start with a "STOP message followed by a set of digits
eg:STOP: 0x00000050: (0xAAAAAAAA, 0xBBBBBBBB, 0xCCCCCCCC, 0xDDDDDDDD)
and what all does it say after that.
when it happens

Your help is appreciated. Right or wrong I did a restore to a point prior
to getting the Blue Screen. So far no more blue! I went to device
mgr>display adapters & only MU1 was there. I could not find that anywhere at
ATI's driver area for downloads. Any advice where I go from here?

Hi Fran,

If you could give me the correct error message I could try to find the
exact cause.
Now, since the system is working fine, i think we can leave it here.
ati error does not only happen due to video card, maybe you dont have a
ATI radeon video card. page_fault_nonpaged area error occurs due to no
of reasons.
next time you get the error, make an exact note and try in google, i'm
sure you will get a way how to solve it, alternatively you can try in
microsoft support as well.
be happy, i hope your issue is resolved.
if it is a dell computer, you could run a diagnostics on all the
devicesin ur system.
to make sure, tht this is not a sign that something has started to
fail.

In Device Manager click on the + sign in front of the Display Adapters
category heading. Video card and Display Adapter are the same thing.

Normally with ATI drivers you download a single file which you save to
your hard drive (so you can use it again if necessary) and then open.
It will should run automatically and install the latest driver
version.

Good luck
