Blue Screen and continual restarts

My hard drive recently crashed and after reinstalling XP Home, SP2 with
all the updates current to 15 Feb 2005, I tried to install my HP
PhotoSmart 1000 Printer driver. The HP provided file for XP was
apparently missing a file so I cancelled out. I then restarted the PC
and it restarted, restarted, restarted, restarted, restarted,
restarted... you get the point. Between the XP boot screen and where
the Logon screen should have been was a VERY brief Blue Screen... then
the restart, restart.

What happened?

To help you debug, start>run and type

sysdm.cpl

then Advance>Startup and Recovery Settings>uncheck Automatically restart.

When this happens again post back with the Stop Error Code.

Also check your Event Viewer for clues. Start>run and type

eventvwr.
