blue on shut down...restart instead of shutdown

Well, I just reformatted my computer and everything seems to be fine (in
other words, everything operates normally as far as I can tell). However,
today I realized that when I shut down, the computer would restart, I double
checked my power management options to see that pressing power shuts down
and sure enough I did...then I remember that by default your comp reboots on
errors. So, I check in the sys properties and uncheck the reboot
option...then this time I shut down and got that blue screen.

I have been having trouble with my modem which JUST started happening (mind
you, the only hard ware I've changed since the reformat is a nic...I swapped
it out with the exact same model but a new card) regardless of that, I doubt
it's the cause because prior to reformatting, I wasn't receiving any errors
on shut down or in my device manager.

Anyways, I was getting modem erros during dialup so I uninstalled the modem
and removed it physically. After rebooting and shutting down again, I still
get a blue screen.

I didn't think there was a way...but, can anyone help figure this one out,
is there a way to make that blue screen more descriptive?

As I said earlier, prior to reformatting I wasn't getting any shut down
errors so I don't know why all of a sudden, reloading my comp now has this
problem.

Okay, well actually now that I think of it, I do remember this problem with
ecdc 5.0 so when I get home I'll download their update and then post back
with results.

I think I'll probably just uninstall and get nero instead, I liked the trial
version.
