blue color font on folder names can not be changed

Hi, Using XP home edition and against my better judgement used some software
for cleaning my hard disk and deleting some duplicated and "unnecessary"
files. Since then the font on most the folder names have changed from black
to blue. There are still some black font ones that when I try to change the
font color in setttings can be changed, but the blue ones stay blue what ever
I do. I have tried scanning disk for errors and even done a system restore,
but none have changed the font color.

Would greatly appreciate any assistance. Problem may appear superficial,
but frustrates me immensely. Thank you

Sounds like the program you used also compressed the files. Try the
following and see if you can change the color;

To display encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color
1) Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2) Double-click Folder Options
..
On the View tab, deselect (uncheck) the Show encrypted or compressed NTFS
files in color check box.

When the option is *selected*, the names of encrypted or compressed NTFS
files and folders will be displayed in a different color in the folder.

Blue names simply indicate that they are compressed, to save space. If
you don't want the folder compressed -- e.g. because its files are
frequently used -- just right click on the folder name, click
properties, click advanced, and uncheck 'compress files to save space'.
