When I try and upgrade from Windows 98 to XP I get an
error message saying "Other Operating System Found", I
only have Windows 98 as my OS. Can anyone tell me what the
problem is?

If you acquired an "OEM version" of Windows XP, you cannot
upgrade over an existing Windows O/S. Only a "retail version"
of XP can upgrade. OEM versions require a "clean install".

You are trying to make a install and not an
upgrade...upgrades require either an OS to upgrade or you
must have a OS CD to allow the install to continue.

I presume you are clicking cancel, try clicking OK and let
the upgrade or dual boot continue.

This sounds as if you bought one of the cheap 'OEM' CDs of XP (sold at
least nominally, with hardware). These will

Only install 'clean' - format the drive first

Do not get any support from MS, it is the responsibility of the vendor
selling it

Are not transferable to any successor system
