Hi! I'd like to know how I for instance could block say, rows 1 to 4 from
scrolling on my sheet so that I can use these rows for titles and so on...

Many thanks!

Select A1 (so you can see that cell)
Select A5
Window|Freeze panes
(xl2003 menu system)

Everything above and to the left of that selected cell will be frozen.

If you had selected B5, then column A would have been frozen so you could scroll
right and keep column A in view.

ps. If you have your data filtered, show all the data before freezing the
panes.

Ok!

Thanks guys! It worked out fine. Had to translate to swedish menu first but
I worked it out. The problem was that I was searching for help under
something like blocking cells/rows whilst as you have made clear in your
answers, this problem is easily solved if one uses and searches for "window"
and so on...

Thanks again!

:-)

Hi Dave, You say I have to press "show all data" before freezing.
Well I have some shared(multiple users) + filtered(multiple columns) and
freezed(multiple rows) sheets and the keep freezing completely (not just the
top 5 rows until the filters but evrything like a scroll lock) and I'm
totally out of options on how to resolve this problem.
Try searching on "freezing panes" is not really helpful :) because you end
up in these topics, so I keep on searching hoping you know what I'm talking
about.

If you have multiple users and there's one who likes to change the location of
the frozen panes, then I don't know what you can do--maybe you could give that
person the skunk eye!

Or write up small instructions how they shouldn't change the location of the
frozen panes. And if someone has changed it, how to fix it.

In xl2003 menus:
Window|Unfreeze panes
Data|Filter|show all data
Select A1 (so that it's visible)
Select the cell that should be used to freeze panes.
(Selecting B2 will freeze column A and row 1)
Then window|Freeze panes
Apply the filter that they want to use.

It sounds like a training issue to me.

True, ik looks like a training issue. However the problem seems to occur all
by it self (they say ;) . Maybe just replace user and reboot :)

The response to that 2006 post points at a Frozen panes problem. But since the
OP didn't reply, who knows what solved it.
