Block unsafe expressions?

Hi,

When I open some Access.mdb applications I am sometimes prompted with
"Do you wish to block unsafe expressions?" I simply press 'no' and keep on
working.

and with others I am not prompted.

I haven't been able to pinpoint the reason for this.

I am wondering when/why this prompt is presented and then what, if anything,
one should be doing to stop it from occuring.

thanks

Go to Tools, Macros, Security. Setting macro security to Low will eliminate
these messages. If, however, you ever have to open mdb's developed by someone
you don't know, this will expose you to potential risk.

In Access2002 when I go to Tools/Macro I do not have a Security. VB Editor
and others but no Security

The unsafe expressions message was, I thought, new in Access 2003. The menu
path I suggested is also new in Access 2003. I'm not sure why you're getting
this message or what to do about it. Sorry.

Well I opened up Access2003 and an application - and indeed this warning did
then appear. So that is a step forward in understanding it is an Access2003
thing....

But still Tools/Macro/ still does not contain anything refering to security
inside....it is all on managing Macros ....

The Help also advises to either add an antivirus product or lower the Macro
Security setting which defaults to Medium - but doesn't say how. Looking in
both Tools/Macro and Tools/Security - - - I just don't see where one
would make this change if one wanted to....

very interesting link. Have been doing Access a pretty good while, and
monitor this forum alot - and yet find this to be entirely new to me. On the
otherhand I didn't bother to get Access2003 until recently.

I'm only getting this prompt "Block Unsafe..."...and seems I can select
either yes or no and just continue...So it isn't major grief at all. So I
could ignore like I have been for a month or so....

So the Help says I should go and lower the Macro Security setting...(and I
haven't yet found where that parameter is managed) but this link indicates
that a Jet upgrade is needed...interesting in the difference of advice.....
I find it a little strange the general lack of clarity on this issue
however... wonder if any more advice is out there from any other MVPs...

It is in Tools ... Macros ... Security

Try refreshing your toolbar. Right-click on your menubar, and choose
Customize. You should see a button that allows you to Reset.
