blaster worm & firewall -HELP!

K

kat

i have been infected by the blaster worm while downloading
Xp service pack one. I have tried Start, run CMD. I can
not turn on the internal firewall because I receive an
error message stating "an unexpected error has occured". -
It also states that the internet connection is
disconnected (even though I am able to use the internet)
and I do not have an Internet icon in the bottom right
corner of my task bar. Kelly suggested that I go through
services, under Run, but when I click on properties
nothing happens and I do not have any bars at the top
saying recovery or first failure. When I log onto the
internet I can not click on any links and I can not access
the windows update web page. Any more suggestions???

Find a computer to use, download STINGER (Google for

Save it to a floppy...
Boot the infected computer and use the STINGER program on
the floppy to clean and repair the computer.
You can follow the instructions below and then download

Stop the countdown

TSS associate producer David Prager found a way to stop
the countdown Blaster launches.

1.. Go to the command line interface by clicking on the
Start button and selecting Run. Type "command" (without
quotes) and click OK.

2.. At the command prompt, type "shutdown -a" (without
quotes). This effectively orders the computer to abort
shutdown.

3.. Run your antivirus tools and download patches to
remove the worm.
