blaster worm download

I received an e-mail from SBC about the blaster worm virus. They recommended downloading the firewall patches through the windows process that was provided. I followed the steps as indicated. The program successfully downloaded but would not install. I tried four times to install, but kept getting "error" and to retry. Is there something else I can do. By no means am I an expert, but I can follow directions.

Firewall patches? Could you be more specific as to what the instructions
they gave you were, and what they wanted to you to update? You are sure this
is an official e-mail from SBC not some fake e-mail luring you to install
some trojans?

Type: shutdown -a , and hit enter.
This should halt the rebooting problem.
