Blaster infected the computer. Removed it (there were
three variants). Computer is VERY slow. Virus scans are
now clean. Disk has been scanned for damage and is clean.
Programs do work but slowly.
Is there a repair mode is Windows which will correct the
problem?
Ideas?
If I have to reformat the drive, how do I do it?

Get copies of Ad-Aware and ZoneAlarm. You may have cleaned the virus, but
I'd bet there are a lot of unwanted services and junk programs running in
the background still.

The standard way of re-installing Win2000 (if you must go
down this path) goes like this:

- Instruct your BIOS to use the CD drive as the primary boot
device.
- Pop in your Win2000 CD
- Reboot the machine

The setup process will now start automatically.

Maintaining an up-to-date virus scanner & firewall will avoid
this pain in future.
