blank word document

quite out of the blue, my computer has stopped displaying a normal word
document along with the usual toolbar. I am now presented with a document
that takes up a quarter of the page, and whatever I type is so small it is
illegible. I have tried everything I can think of, but cannot get back to my
usual document format. I need to type documents because I am writing a novel.
Please help.

n.b. how do I get back to this place to see the answer, or will whoever is
out there send me an email? How does this work?

Dear Suzanne, I went to 'view' then to zoom - and it worked! However, I have completely lost the toolbar - the one with file, edit, tools etc. Maybe I should go back and see if I can find it under toolbars.
