Blank Slides and Controling Font Size (PP 2003)

Rather than have a slide with a title and text is it possible to just insert
a blank slide that I can populate with text and pictures, as I need?

Can I create some sort of a template for box text that has a default font
size? If I use the common slide from Insert, the size of the type varies as
I add more text. I'd like to keep font size uniform in text boxes, or at
least not have it change as I add more text.

You want the blank slide to appear when starting Powerpoint instead of the
one with title and text? Then you have to create your own "blank.pot". This
is the "basic"-template which is used when Powerpoint starts and when you
click on "New".
Create a presentation with only one slide. Apply the slide layout "Blank".
Save the presentation with the file name "blank", in the list "Save as type"
select "Design template (pot)". Powerpoint will save the template in the
correct folder.
Exit Powerpoint and start it again. Now you should have a blank slide for
the beginning.

But I recommend to use slide layouts with title and text as often as
possible. If you ever want to change the fontsize or the bulletpoints you
can do it easily by changing the master slide. A blank slide will not follow
the master, so you have to make the changes on every single slide.

The default setting in Powerpoint is to fit the text to the placeholder - if
there was any placeholder used... This behaviour can be switched off:
- Tools / AutoCorrect / AutoFormat as you type
- deactivate "Autofit title text..." and "Autofit body text..."
