To experts out there,
Kindly help me with this problem.

I was trying to restart my HP laptop and once it get passed the HP
screen, it just go to a blank screen with a top left cursor.

I've search in the net for answers but not successful- I've tried
pressing F2, F12, del, ctrl alt F1 as per some recommendation buy all
failed.

I tried boot from the recovery CD disk (for windows xp) and choose to
repair. I went through the chkdsk/r and it scan the harddisk for about
half an hour and when I restart, it is back to square one.

Please advice.

Thank you so much

Contact HP.

It sounds like there may be hardware failure of some sort. You could try
using a BartPE or Ultimate Windows Boot CD to access your data and see if
the machine will boot.

If you tap F8 at power up (once per second) can you get to a screen that
allows you to go to Safe Mode?

You could try an actual repair installation:
