blank screen in between wallpaper and icons

So, something got in my system, I ran ad-aware, it deleted some file, and now
I've got a blank screen in between my icons and my wallpaper. Upon start up I
can see the wallpaper for a second, then it just goes to a blank screen. When
I right click and go to properties, here's what I get
"file://C:\WINDOWS\desktop.html"

Any suggestions on how to get rid of this would be great! Oh, and when I go
to the C drive, windows, they 'desktop.html' file is not there....is there
another type of file I should be looking for. I think it was some kind of pop
up that is no longer there because of ad aware, just a blank white
wall...that flashes gray to white, very annoying.

Quick fix for the background...

Go to Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Themes(skip if on classic view)

Display > Desktop tab > Customize Desktop > Web tab > uncheckmark all web

pages in box and delete all > click ok > click ok > restart. Good Luck
