Black Screen

I've reformatted and installed Vista x64 over 4 times now and it's becoming
rather frustrating. Every time i install the new OS, it runs fine and my
drivers update without problems, but then after some time and a few reboots
later, vista refuses to boot up past a black screen with just the cursor
showing. This has happened 3 times and once vista crashed leaving me with a
message about a "wimilib.sys" problem that also messed up my xp which was
dual-booted. Any help is appreciated, I'm just hoping to have some idea about
what is causing the black screen so i can avoid it.

Jarhead,

Sounds like one of the updates you're doing may be the culprit. One of the
MVP's may be able to tell you how to do this but you need to download and
install the updates selectively - not all at once. See if it runs okay,
then download and install the next. If it is an update creating the
problem, this should help you find it.

There's also the advice - only download updated drivers directly from the
manf site to insure you have the latest fixes. That certainly has merit.
