Hi all,
OK, this one is driving me nuts. [I'm running Windows XP Pro SP1 on a custom
ASUS P-4 3.0 system.]
When I plug in a USB jump drive, Windows Explorer recognizes the drive
immediately, but then after exactly three seconds, the drive is removed from
the left-pane (drive tree) of Explorer. I've tried this with 3 different
jump drives, they all behave the same.
The weird thing is that the jump drive is being recognized by Windows
itself, just not by Windows Explorer (explorer.exe). For example, I can open
any Office app and when I click File>Open, the jump drive is visible and I
can open files from there. If I go in through My Computer and check Manage
Disks, the jump drive is there. I also checked the Device Manager, and the
USB drive is listed there, no errors. It's just not there in Explorer.
Any assistance to help salvage my sanity would be welcome.
