Tae Song ,

working perfectly

Again. You have no idea what you are doing or saying. This is a Windows
Update issue caused by a corrupted bits statefiles and you need the bits
tool to rectify this issue.
You CANNOT download and install the Stand Alone version of bits in hope
that it will fix the issue since this bits corruption is within and you
need this repaired and NOT exchanged.
I have posted a link concerning this to Martin which includes the tool to
fix the bits.

Windows Update issues should be posted to the windowsupdate newsgroup as
Windows 98 issues should be posted to the w98 newsgroup. That is why the
crosspost.

And PLEASE. Stop using the CBS.log for troubleshooting all posted issues.
That log can and is misleading

Martin

Did you install SP2 on this machine? As it will install bitsigd.dll
6.0.6002.18005, which should replace the older 6.0.6001.1800 entry.

Since BITS doesn't work you should probably download the stand alone
version.

If the above problem with bitsigd.dll blocks install of SP2, you'll need
to remove the key
amd64_microsoft-windows-bits-igdsearcher_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6001.18000_none_0d8ad88d475dc08e
located under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\Components\.

Remember to backup/export the key before you remove it, in case it
doesn't work.

I forgot it shows up in more than one place...

The repair tool for BITS I tried it many time and it always told me that the
service does not need any repair at this time

BTW, right after Tae Song suggestion, I installed SP2, everything went
perfectly well, and BITS is now working

Martin

Then it was not a bits issue. SP2 does not correct a corrupted and faulty bits

M

Martin Racette

If it was like SFC said that it was a faulty DLL file, then by overwriting
it, it might a solve the problem

PA Bear says I'm giving out "dangerous advice" and I should get a clue in
microsoft.public.windowsupdate.

Tae Song

You are when you get the OP's to use the CBS.log for finding and solving Vista OS
issues. Very misleading that cbs.log and basing your replies from that log can be
extremely dangerous for the OP

No, on my install disk there is no command prompt, there is on the install
pr repair option

Bit Boy 2000

Well Martin...its seems that your bits are way too small since you were even born.  Usually people that have small bits have to buy a larger car in order to compensate for their shriveled little bits.  I think you should take a good long hard look at your bits and say that you are a human being and that it is okay to have small bits nowadays.  Good luck with your bits and see you at work at midnight. By the way, how is Val D'or and your 2 cats.  I will put your c\o with a balance out of balance.  Love the Southway.
