Birthday's marked private show on shared calendar

I need to share my calendar with my co-workers, so I have always listed my
personal list of birthday's as private. The problem is when they look at my
calendar, there are private appointments all over the place just for those
birthdays. Since the colors don't show up, and since they are defaulted to
all day events, my coworkers are getting more and more confused. I don't
want to lose the functionality of being reminded of peoples birthdays, but
can't figure out a way to do this. Is there any way to exclude all view of
events with certain labels, like birthdays. Can we set this up company wide?

You could edit those birthdays (recurring events) and set the option 'show
time as:' from 'busy' to 'free'. I think this would solve the problem you
describe.

When you move your birthday's to a separate calendar, then it defeats the
purpose of having everything in one place. If I'm trying to schedule a late
work session, or an out of town trip, and end up gone over my niece's
birthday, I'd feel awful. If you could somehow always layer both of them
instead of having to look side by side it would be fine. Really, I'm
thinking this is going to have to be the best option at this point. I just
think that it is pointless to have labels available when all they do is
provide a bit of color. You'd think Microsoft would be able to do some
advance sorting with them.
