biosinfo.inf could not be loaded

Originally, the OS of my laptop is Windows XP. I
partitioned it and installed Linux on it. Later, I
restored the Windows XP. But, the computer can't reboot. I
tried to start XP from the floppy disk. The error message,
File \biosinfo.inf could not be loaded. The error code is
4109, appeared.
Now I don't know what to do.
Wish somebody could help me.
Thank you.

Mike - I had a similar problem to this. It turned out
that Linux had taken an early sector on the HDD which was
not then released, even using FDISK or Partition Magic.
This prevented XP from loading or booting - even from a
floppy. How come, I do not know.

But the cure was to perform a low-level format on the
HDD. I did this using a utility that came with a Maxtor
hard disk. (The disk with the problem was not a Maxtor
disk, but it worked anyway). It was on a floppy and
called MaxBlast and MaxDiag. I'm sure that other
utilities would perform the same function.
