How do I access the BIOS setup program?

Depends on the manufacturer. Common keys are f1,f2,f10,esc,del, and probably
a few others. Press the appropriate key as soon as the first screen displays
at power-up.

Hi,

That depends - each system is different. During the
initial boot, a message should appear on the screen (my
message is in the middle of the screen while other systems
it appears at the bottom) telling you which key will get
you into the BIOS. My machine uses F4, others use the
Delete key, others use F8, others use F1.

When you initially boot the machine, make sure the screen
is on first, then look for the message. You may have to
shut down and restart a few times to catch the message.

After you know which key it is, shut down and restart,
this time press and/or hold down the specified key during
POST (Pre Operating System Test - all that junk on the
black screen prior to any Windows screens). Some machines
you only need to press the key once - others require you
to hold it down for a bit. This should bring you into the
BIOS.

Remember to be careful - incorrect BIOS settings could
cause your machine to not boot.

You should also be aware that it's very easy to render, at least
temporarily, your PC unbootable by making an incorrect change in the
BIOS. So be very careful.

On bootup press the appropriate key multiple times. If it continues boot,
give it the 3-finger salute: CTRL-Alt-DEL which will restart the boot if it
hasn't progressed too far. Keep doing this until you get the BIOS up. Most
machines will show what key to use to get into BIOS at the beginning of the
boot.
