BIOS settings/updating

Hey all,
First of all thanks to all who posted in response to my
last set of questions regarding the upgrading of my RAM
and Video Card. That all went great thanks to everyone
that gave me some advice.

Now my next question or questions I guess. First thing I
guess some background info may help. My OS is now Windows
2000 (clean install) I had 128 MB of SDRAM and added 256 I
also upgraded my video card from a 64 MB Nvidia TNT to a
128 Nvidia GEFORCE 4000 (AGP) card. My system is not
really all that much better than before. My question is :
Is there some changes that I should make to my BIOS in
order to take advantage of my added RAM and upgraded Video?
Also I found some info on BIOS updating but I am not
wanting to make things worse for myself. From what I have
read updating the Bios can make a world of difference, but
downloading and installing the wrong BIOS updates can
create a non functional PC.

Anyway thats it in a nutshell. What changes if any should
I make to my BIOS setting and also should I download an
update for that BIOS?

PS. Also my MOBO is a ASUS A7V Socket A Chip set Apollo KT

With a 133 MHZ bus, the only way to get any real improvement you will have
to get another CPU and mother board. The system is slow.

What you want to do is find a newsgroup that deals in ASUS MOBO especially your
mobo and look for BIOS tweaking posts.
BUT be aware that even tweaking has its downside....go to far and the system
will not boot .......so you will need to find out how to reset the BIOS to
default before you can boot again.The BIOS has numerous settings that can be
tweaked and they differ on each board.A system can also be overclocked and there
are specific newsgroups for that as well.Visit the groups....read and learn.
As for updating a BIOS(flashing)...new BIOS are available usually on your MOBO
vendors website and are usually listed by MOBO name and version number.The
instructions are also on the website.
